Oblix At The Shard And Fable Whisky Dinner Review
AN ATMOSPHERIC NIGHT WITH FABLE WHISKY AND A STORY OR TWO…

Ahead of world whisky day which is happening on the 18th May I was invited to attend the fabulous ‘A Night With Fable Whisky’ at Oblix East at the top of the Shard. Nice! The evening promised ‘a special menu crafted by our friends at Fable’ which sounded rather delightful and the housemate could look after the cats and who doesn’t appreciate a good Canapé? So off I went on my whisky adventure.
Delightfully and conveniently there is a separate entry for the restaurants at the Shard , so it wasn’t as confusing to reach The Oblix as I’d expected. The lovely and PR team were very welcoming as my walking chaos entered the restaurant and immediately offered me one of the specially crafted cocktails made from Fable Whisky and of course, a Canapé . I don’t mind if I do. They were little pieces of heaven so I was rather keen for what was coming next.
I was introduced to the co creator of fable whisky founder Calum Lawrie who was a fantastic host who was happy to educate the party on the history of whisky, how to drink it and of course, his own passion project, Fable. The brand is independent and believes in the power of storytelling and that was really reflected in the evening as we spoiled ourselves with an indulgent evening of fine whisky and fodder. The food was delicious and crafted by the Oblix chef, Kevin Bonus.

Food wise I wasn’t disappointed, the whisky twist added an extra level to the experience. I am a lover of tartare and literally breathed it in, I am not kidding and I’d do it again. The presentation of the main course of Smoked Black Cod was presented with steamy panache and each dish came alongside a story presented by Calum Lawrie and chef Kevin Bonus. The dessert was described as ‘If Fable did Snickers bar this would be it’ and to be fair they were faithful to their word with this rich and delicious cake. The whisky ice cream was to die for. We also got presented with a The Three Companions Whisky to take home which was most appreciated.
Overall it was truly an entertaining and jolly evening at a wonderful location, and who couldn’t appreciate the amazing view of London over the sunset? Thank you very much for Fable for hosting the Live Review and here’s to my new found appreciation for an old fashioned.
