GAMES, GLORY, AND A HINT OF HUMBLE PIE

Now this was a fun one! I love an immersive experience you can really get stuck into, and THE CUBE didn’t disappoint. Though I will say, it also reminded me that my cardio is not what it used to be. Out of breath on one of the games? Humbling. Worth it? Absolutely.

I went with Emma, and as a duo, we were meant to be paired up against another twosome. However, no duos were booked at the same time as us, so we went head-to-head with THE CUBE itself. I was fully prepared to flop every game and have a quiet competitive sulk by the end, but plot twist… we actually did quite well! We powered on and managed to win 3 out of 7 games, ending with a score of 4,550. Buzzing!

The first game was a solo mental challenge. Picture a 5×5 grid on the floor with a selection of red squares. You get a short burst of it before it flips sides, and you’ve got to place blocks where the red squares would be mirrored. I volunteered as tribute, convinced I’d bomb, but I smashed it in just 10 seconds. Truly peaked early. I could have quit right then and there and gone home happy.

The game is supported by THE CUBE app. You’ll be asked to upload your name, photo, and team name at check-in, then it guides you through the experience. It tells you what game you’re doing next, tracks your score, and has a map so you don’t get lost. It also allows you to have one break during the game, for 30 minutes.

They don’t have a dress code but do recommend flat shoes and active wear. I dusted off the gym gear and trainers, but Emma did it in jeans and boots and was fine. There were even people doing it in dresses, so just go with what’s comfy for you… Although I would say with a dress there is a risk of flashing.

We decided to share a bottle of Prosecco (always a 10/10 decision), and there were plenty of spots to pop drinks during games. The drinks menu is solid, with cocktails, wines, beers, spirits, and softs all covered. Food-wise, they’ve teamed up with Toni Loco for pizzas and The Butcher for burgers, small plates, and sharers. Can’t go wrong with a post-game burger and cocktail.

With 22 different game options, there’s plenty of variety, and a solid reason to go back. You’re unlikely to get the same mix twice. But even if you did, take it as a chance to see if you can beat your previous score. THE CUBE would be a great day out with friends, a team-building exercise, or even a brave first date… if you’re ready to reveal your competitive chaos energy that is.
