Flat Iron Review: Affordable Steak Heaven

£14 STEAK DONE RIGHT: WHY FLAT IRON IS MY TOP CHOICE FOR SOLO DINING

By Tanya Howard | Founder, The Live Review London · @glamglitzlondon

Flat Iron is one of those places that once you go, you get it. Unless you’re vegetarian, of course, but then a steakhouse isn’t likely to grab your attention. It’s the place for great steak, great value, no unnecessary fuss, just good food done right. I have zero hesitation about treating myself to a steak dinner here, whether I’m with friends or not. Why should I miss out on a perfectly cooked steak just because everyone else is busy? Am I right!

AN ELEVATED TAKE ON STEAK AND MASH

I’m a creature of habit when it comes to my order. Practically. Every. Single. Time! I go for the £14 Flat Iron steak and the Crispy Bone Marrow Garlic Mash. The steak is always cooked to perfection, juicy, tender, and full of flavour. It baffles me when someone doesn’t order the infamous Flat Iron steak. At that price? I’ll admit on one visit, I just ordered two steaks, and that was my whole meal. No regrets!

Let’s talk about the mash. It’s buttery, smooth, and topped with crispy bone marrow goodness that is chef’s kiss perfection. I always ask for no chives because your girl doesn’t have time to be picking them off. I wonder if they could do extra bone marrow as a substitute (I’ll report back). The mash is the perfect companion to the steak, and I can’t recommend it enough.

LAID BACK DINING WITH BIG FLAVOUR

To drink? A Diet Coke if I’m flying solo, Prosecco if I’m with friends. Flat Iron isn’t a fancy wine and steak kind of place, and that’s what I love about it. They keep it simple, focusing on perfectly cooked food and a casual, comfortable atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and attentive, which really enhances the experience. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet solo meal or catching up with friends, the laid-back ambiance is always spot on.

Flat Iron is proof that great steak doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag. For just £14, I’m treated to a perfectly cooked steak every time. I will admit, I’m a medium-well kind of girl, don’t come for me! Whether I’m taking myself on a solo date or catching up with friends, I know I’m getting top-quality food. It’s a no-brainer why I keep coming back…

And let’s not forget the free popcorn while you wait. AND the free ice cream you get when you leave. Must I go on? It’s those little touches that make the whole experience even sweeter!
