You can’t deny that Instagram has taken over and that we find ourselves, unintentionally at times, wanting to get the perfect shot for the gram and so we need to know the best locations to go to. Here’s a small round up of some places in London to grab yourself a drink and have a little photoshoot at the same time.
Doña, Stoke Newington
Doña is a new pop-up bar combining mezcal, music and a female-led cutting-edge programme of entertainment. The venue comes from Thea Cumming, founder of Dangerous Don mezcal brand, and Lucie Massey, the brains behind London Mezcal Week, Cuppa Gumbo & Slap Ya Papa.
Bold, strong and stylish, this basement bar, whose name refers to the feminine form of ‘Don’, is inspired by the vibrancy of Mexico and the sexiness of a 1920s Harlem jazz club. The bar features plush velvet banquet-style seating, atmospheric low lighting and candles, with hues of crimson, scarlet and pink throughout.
From Wednesday to Saturday Doña opens its doors, serving a small but mighty selection of high quality Mezcal cocktails. Examples from the list at Doña include the Fiorella (Dangerous Don Mezcal, Virtuous Ginger, Supasawa, Agave, Lime Wheel and Coffee Beans) and the Doña (Dangerous Don Mezcal, Martini Ambrato, Campari). To accompany cocktails, live music takes place every night, with a spotlight on female performers. Fridays at Doña have a female focus and each jazz night features an array of up-and-coming male and female performers.

Bobby Fitzpatrick, West Hampstead
Inspired by the wild house parties of the 1970s, the aesthetic of Bobby Fitzpatrick is unashamedly rooted in the decade of shag-pile carpet, platform boots, and ABBA. The West Hampstead bar is an eccentric space, divided into distinct rooms: a yellow-tiled and formica-topped “kitchen”, the “living-room”, complete with cabinet of knick-knacks and the velour-draped “lounge”. Authentic design details of the era feature throughout the bar while the retro cocktail menu is inspired by chapters from Bobby’s personal history.
Just as spider plants and ’70s furniture have made a reappearance in our interior design, the bold and overstated fashion of the era – playful prints, wide lapels, retro colour palette and disco sequins – continue to be revived and reinvented in our wardrobes. Fentimans Pink Gingerbread House, Skylight Rooftop, Wapping
This festive season, botanically brewed drinks makers, Fentimans, is bringing sugar, spice and all things iced to Skylight Rooftop. The life-size Pink Gingerbread House celebrates the brands recently launched Pink Ginger soft drink and is one of the season’s most instagrammable installations, where Londoners can visit for festive ginger cocktails and sweet treats in a magical fairy-tale environment unlike no other in London. Running until January 2020, the Fentimans Pink Gingerbread House is decorated with icing, candy canes and a cosy interior complete with edible sweet filled walls.
The Fentimans Pink Gingerbread House can fit groups of eight and is available to book in three-hour slots throughout the festive season, via the Skylight website. Each group booking will receive a Fentimans Pink Ginger cocktail on arrival and all visitors to Skylight will be able to choose from a menu of Fentimans festive ginger drinks. Situated on the 9th floor of Skylight, one of London’s most popular rooftop destinations, overlooking the city’s iconic skyline, the Fentimans Pink Gingerbread House is the perfect cosy accompaniment to the venue’s ice rink.
