RUM OFF 2019 at Bobby Fitzpatrick
GUESTS ARE INVITED TO CELEBRATE RUM IN ALL IT’S FORMS
This year’s tournament will comprise a series of exhilarating cocktail making rounds in which each brand will put forward a bartender to create an imaginative bespoke cocktail to serve to the voting public
The playful and 1970s-inspired bar, Bobby Fitzpatrick in West Hampstead is proud to announce the return of its Rum Off competition, which will commence on Wednesday 8th May. Following on from its hugely successful inaugural year, this highly competitive and interactive cocktail-making series will be inviting sixteen of the most exciting rum brands to compete in the ultimate rum battle.
The Rum Off 2018 saw eight leading rum brands compete for the coveted title, and this year the number of competitors will double to involve an even greater collection of brands. Kicking off in May and running until November, the competition will whittle down the leading rum titans through a number of heats to crown the second Rum Off champion. Last year’s competition was fiercely fought, with Plantation Rum winning by only a single vote. The Plantation Rum team are back to defend their title and this year’s challengers include an array of well-known brands alongside some lesser known, small batch artisanal rums.
This year’s tournament will comprise a series of exhilarating cocktail making rounds in which each brand will put forward a bartender to create an imaginative bespoke cocktail to serve to the voting public. Guests are invited to celebrate rum in all its forms: spiced, flavoured, vintage and over proof, teasing out the complexities of this versatile spirit before appointing a champion.
The full list of contenders includes: Havana Club, The Real McCoy, Gosling’s, Skipper, Pusser’s, Westerhall Estate, Doorly’s, Plantation, Appleton Estate, Don Q, Cargo Cult, Bayou, Embargo, Sailor Jerry, Copalli Rum and Ron Zacpa.

While Bobby Fitzpatrick draws design inspiration from the shag-pile carpets and bold prints of 1970s homeware, the bar takes its spirits seriously with a cocktail menu featuring punchy and predominantly rum-fuelled tipples. The dedicated rum menu, or ‘Rum Diaries’, is a log of Bobby’s favourite rums collected on his extensive global travels.
The brunch cocktails are both punchy and refreshing, designed to kick start your weekend and celebrate London’s sunshine filled summery days. The bottomless cocktail options include the sumptuously sweet Coconut and Pineapple Mimosa, as well as the fun reworking of the classic tomato brunch tipple into the ‘Bloody Derek.’ Bottomless cocktails are interchangeable throughout the brunch experience.
Bobby’s ‘house’ is divided into three rooms and its interior embraces the eccentricities and lively spirit of the 70s. With a fun and playful atmosphere including board games and retro memorabilia, Bobby’s brunches are the perfect option for larger groups and parties. Guests are encouraged to make themselves at home and to let leisurely weekend mornings roll into afternoons with either an early or late brunch sittings available on Saturdays only.
