Aperol Spritz Big Birthday Social London

APEROL SPRITZ BIG BIRTHDAY SOCIAL

A review by Hannah Dolan

May, the month of multiple bank holidays, the beginning of Spring, but more notably – the month when the Aperol Spritz pop up rolls back into town.

To celebrate their 100th Birthday, Aperol are running a series of Spritz Big Birthday Socials in London. And all I can say is. Happy Birthday Aperol, for throwing the best damn birthday party ever.

If you’re unaware what Aperol Spritz actually is, it’s a drink made from prosecco, Aperol and a splash of soda water which tastes a lot like happy summer evenings. It’s also fluorescent orange, which makes for some pretty good Instagramming.

What is the event?

In summary – it’s effectively a homage to Aperol. If you’re adverse to the colour orange this probably isn’t the event for you. Because everything is orange. From the drinks, to the deck chairs, the hot tubs (oh yes) the giant inflatable orange slice floating on the Aperol lido, the ball pit, there’s even a carousel bar with little vespas – they really stuck with the theme here guys.

When entering it’s almost impossible to know where to look first, and it is tempting to run like a small child straight into the orange lido. But of course we refrained, like the sensible adults we are, and headed straight for the bar. They have a live DJ and some pretty cool light installations inside, and outside you can dip your toes into the orange lido and recline poolside whilst taking in the sheer amount of Aperol being consumed.

Make sure you have a camera handy because from the moment you enter, you’ll want to photograph everything. Aperol Spritz can be purchased for £6 per cocktail and there’s also a cute little pizza van so make sure you grab a slice to soak up all the Aperol!

Where do I find tickets?

Advance tickets in London are now sold out but they are offering a limited number of walk ins.

Standard tickets are £10, including x2 Aperol Spritz and some Italian Aperitivo. Any additional Aperol Spritz can be purchased for £6 per cocktail.

What to wear?

Probably avoid light colours – due to the Aperol lido, there’s a chance of spillage. But do bring swimwear if you’re feeling brave and fancy a dip in the fiat 500 hot tubs or a selfie on the inflatable orange slice!
