A CAMPY, CLEVER LOVE LETTER TO MERYL AND MISFITS ALIKE

Even if you’re not a Meryl Streep superfan (sorry Alex, promise I’m a fan, just not at your level!), I See Me & Meryl Streep is a joyful, laugh-packed ride worth. Alexandra Keddie brings boundless energy and brilliant comedic timing to this one-woman show. There are even a few great supporting appearance, and I’m not just talking about the icon herself!

Alex pays tribute to Meryl Streep through spot-on impressions, songs, monologues, and a deep dive into the highs and lows of lifelong obsession. Alex’s delivery is fast, funny, and full of flair. But there’s a softness there too! Especially when she questions whether loving something “too much” is really a problem, or just a way to cope and feel you. The blend of heartfelt honesty and high camp theatre works beautifully.

Alex breezes through an impressive number of Meryl roles, films, and musical moments. Was I asleep through Meryl Streep’s career, who knew she sung that much on screen?! There were mini costumes changes, a parade of accents, and lots of clever nods. I did lose track briefly of what age Keddie was playing at times. But I think that was very much a me problem and not a general consensus.

The show gets an extra lift from Charlotte MacInnes and Katelin Koprivec as her “sister and cousin”. They’re not centre stage, but their timing, reactions, and little exchanges add plenty of humour and warmth. Genuinely though Katelin was just an overenthusiastic fan at first.

I See Me & Meryl Streep is camp. It’s clever. And it’s got a big heart. Whether you know every Meryl Street film or only a few, this is a fun, fresh comedy. A comedy giving awkward youth throwbacks, starry-eyed dreams, and finding comfort in the things… and people we love!
