A HAVEN FOR COCKTAIL LOVERS: WHY PARASOL DALSTON IS A MUST VISIT

Some nights call for chaos, others call for calm. And Parasol in Dalston turned out to the be the perfect midweek recharge. I popped in solo, with nothing but my phone and a book for company. And honestly? It was perfect. The vibe was relaxed, atmospheric, and quietly stylish. I sank into the space, slowly sipping cocktails and reading, which felt like a real treat.

The staff deserve a shout out here! Jamie and Sarah were lush; warm, attentive, and genuinely great at reading the room. They checked in regularly, gave helpful advice on drink choices, and happily chatted with me and the other guests without ever being overbearing. It’s the kind of service that makes you feel welcome whether you’re on a date, with a group, or like me, just flying solo.

Speaking of dates, Parasol has “cute spot” written all over it. The earthy tones, soft lighting, and cosy corners are perfect for a romantic evening. But it works just as well for post-work drinks with colleagues or cocktails with friends. From what I was told, Fridays and Saturdays are busier and more energetic, so it depends on what you’re after. Thursday felt calm and ideal for unwinding, but if you want a buzzing night, head there at the weekend.

And then, of course, the main event: the drinks. All cocktails at Parasol are £10, which is very reasonable for London. And they have a house special, the Umbrella Vesper, for just £7. I decided to step out of my usual comfort zone and try a few new things. I’m happy to say I hit the jackpot with every choice.

June Bug: Takamaka Overproof Rum, Yellow Chartreuse, Pineapple, Banana, Melon, Coconut, Lime. Refreshing, tropical, and my favourite of the night. The balance of fruit and rum gave it that holiday in a glass vibe without tipping into sickly sweet. Dangerously drinkable!

Air Mail: El Dorado 5 Yr Old Rum, Sauternes, Brioche, Honey, Lemon, Champagne. A little richer, with depth from the honey and brioche notes, lifted by the sparkle of champagne. Bright and well balanced, this was a close second.

French Martini: Remy Marten VSOP Cognac, Monbazillac, Raspberry Eau De Vie, Pineapple. Smooth, fruity, and decadent. Definitely the kind of drink you linger over.

Honestly, I’d happily order all three again. And of course, I couldn’t resist a glass of Prosecco. Because some habits die hard!

Would I go back? Absolutely. Parasol has that rare mix of style and comfort. Whether you’re looking for a date night, a catch-up, or just a little time to yourself with a good drink in hand, it’s a spot worth knowing.
