Prepare to have your mind twisted and your sides split! Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle is a riotous comedy that delivers a rollercoaster of laughter and mind-bending entertainment. The show stars and was created by Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer. Henry and Jonathan are the masterminds behind ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ and the BBC’s ‘The Goes Wrong Show’. And if you are familiar with either, you’ll know that you are in for a big laugh.

From the moment the curtains rise at the Apollo Theatre, you are swept into a whirlwind of hilarious mentalism gone awry. The Mind Mangler takes centre stage as he attempts a spectacular return to his West End two-man solo show. That will make more sense a little further on in the review! The show is a sequel of sorts to ‘Magic Goes Wrong’ with Henry returning in the role of the incompetent mentalist.

One of the standout features of Mind Mangler is the extensive audience interaction. The show excels in drawing the audience into the chaos eliciting uncontrollable laughter and serving as the perfect mood booster. You know that moment when the laughter starts to settle but there is one who just can’t control it. That was my friend!

The show is broken down into various segments, some more extensive and interactive than others. Like asking audience members to share their secrets before the show and uncovering them using hypnosis to Ouija board antics. I want to share every aspect but also want to keep the show a surprise for any readers. There wasn’t a single part of the show I didn’t enjoy and there was an astonishing climax that I did not see coming.

One of the most impressive parts of the show was their ability to effortlessly blend humour with genuine magic. The performers playfully challenged the audience’s scepticism of magic between the genuine mind-blowing feats and cleverly staged illusions. For a company that are known for bringing the chaos to a production it was captivating to see. The incorporation of real audience members added a level of authenticity. But they also kept us on our toes with actors disguised as audience members who appeared in various explanatory t-shirts.

Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle is not just a show, it’s an experience. If you’re in need of a real mood boost and a good laugh, this is the show for you. It’s a chance to escape the mundane and enter a world where anything is possible. Where laughter reigns supreme, where chaos meets captivating, and where the only limit is the depths of your own imagination.
