Are you ready to be transported into a world of dazzling lights, energetic beats, and unrestrained joy? Because that’s exactly where Priscilla The Party is looking to take you. This immersive extravaganza is inspired by the Tony award-winning musical and Oscar-winning movie The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Priscilla The Party invites the audience to embark on a journey of self-discovery, friendship, fun, and fabulousness.

I’ve not seen the film or musical of Priscilla, so I was intrigued by what was in store for me. I had an idea that it would be a bit of me though as my Mum is a devoted fan. Despite my limited prior knowledge of the show, I felt the condensed and unique presentation effectively conveyed the narrative. It allows both seasoned fans and newcomers to appreciate the journey of three friends aboard the iconic bus to Alice Springs.

From the moment you walk into HERE at Outernet you are enveloped in a world of colour and excitement. The DJ and pre-show entertainment set the stage for the festivities to come. I’m a sucker for old school pop anthems so I knew I was in for a treat with the playlist. We were instantly dancing and singing away to classic hits that resonated with fond memories of Mum and me. With standing tickets, we found ourselves surrounded by the rising stage fully immersed in the story enfolding around us.

FROM EXTRAVAGANT COSTUMES THAT SPARKLE UNDER THE STAGE LIGHTS TO THE INFECTIOUS SOUNDTRACK INSPIRING YOU TO SING AND DANCE

The cast of Priscilla The Party are nothing short of sensational bringing their characters to life with wit, charm, and great comedic timing. The show blends humour, heart, and poignant moments that shed light on the challenges faced the LGBTQIA+ and drag queen communities. The meticulously choreographed dance routines added to the spectacle. The cast were fantastic, but I have to give a shoutout to Lucy Park’s portrayal of Cynthia which has me in hysterics.

But it’s not just the performances that dazzle, it’s also the attention to detail. From the extravagant costumes that sparkle under the stage lights to the infectious soundtrack that inspires you to sing and dance. Every aspect of the production is meticulously crafted to create an unforgettable experience. What was an unexpected added bonus was the food offering during the show. I would highly recommend trying the beef brisket sliders and rainbow cake slices. The beef brisket nachos and cake pops were also a big hit for us.

Priscilla The Party is more than just a show, it’s a celebration of love, acceptance, and the power of theatre. It shows that endless possibilities await when you dare to embrace your true self. The show is a must see that delivers an unforgettable fusion of entertainment, inclusivity, and sheer spectacle. Priscilla The Party will leave you dancing the night away long after the curtain falls.
