Prepare for a wild adventure like no other at London Zoo’s Zoo Nights. Running every Friday from 7 June to 26 July 2024, Zoo Nights is an adult only after-hours experience. As the sun sets, the zoo transforms into a realm of exploration and excitement. Free from the hustle and bustle of daytime crowds, here are five reasons to visit Zoo Nights at London Zoo.

WALK INSIDE THE MONKEY VALLEY ENCLOSURE

Go bananas as you step into the Monkey Valley enclosure, where swinging through the trees is the norm! The iconic Snowdon Aviary has been transformed into a walk-through habitat transporting visitors to the mountainous forest of Central Africa. Experience the Colobus monkeys leaping, lounging, swinging, and snoozing in their tree-top inspired habitat.

IT’S AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Zoo Nights are a treasure trove of knowledge! You will find detailed name and information boards throughout the zoo providing interesting facts about the animals and their habitats. Additionally, you can attend special talks from the zoo’s expert staff for deeper insights into behaviours of specific species. Penguins, lions, giraffes, and Galapagos tortoises are just some of the special talks at Zoo Nights. There is also a lot of information on wildlife conservation efforts as London Zoo are part of ZSL (Zoological Society of London) a global wildlife conservation charity.

DISCOVER WHAT AN OTTER SOUNDS LIKE

Have you ever wondered what an otter sounds like? I can guarantee it’s nothing like you would expect. Take advantage of the quieter environment and listen out for their unexpected sounds. This auditory experience will be a surprising addition to your visit. I captured a recording of the sound and have shown it to multiple people since my visit. I’m wondering if anyone running off to YouTube to hear one now, make sure to experience it in person too.

ENJOY THE FOOD AND DRINK OPTIONS

Feeding time isn’t just for the animals! Savour some delicious street food at the World Food Market serving dishes from across the world. Visit the Watering Holes and grab a refreshing to cool down (I’m manifesting gorgeous sunshine and warmth for us all). I’d recommend seeking out the Watering Hole by the Komodo Dragon House for their alcoholic slushie. And finally, purchase some fun flavoured marshmallows and toast them over the open fires or make your own s’mores.

FEEL THE HEAT OF THE RAINFOREST

Step into the Rainforest Life exhibit and experience the tropical warmth and humidity that replicate a real rainforest. It was giving Monica from Friends “It’s the humidity”, if you know, you know. Here you can see a range of fascinating rainforest residents including a Tamandua, Sengi, and a Flying Fox. You’ll also get to see a sloth up close, including baby Nova who was born at the zoo last year. Afterwards pop down into the Nightlife habitat, where you’ll discover the nocturnal wonders who make the dark their home.

Free from the pitter patter of little feet, you can enjoy a tranquil evening exploring at your leisure. Zoo Nights (18+) is the purr-fect opportunity to let your inner animal roam free without any distractions. Tickets are priced at £21.50, offering four hours of evening zoo time from 6pm to 10pm.
