Back at Sloane Place Restaurant for dinner, and I forgot just how pretty it is. It’s got that Chelsea polish but still feels warm and relaxed. Not the sort of spot where you’re being judged for using the wrong fork. Just a super lovely team that wants you to have the best time during your visit. Welcoming, proper friendly, and so helpful with the menu. Shout out to Lewis and the team, who gave us solid recommendations without that awkward “everything’s great” routine.

I went with my friend Louis, and we started off with a bottle of Prosecco because… well, obviously. Ice water for the table too, because we’re responsible like that. Louis started with the Smoked Salmon (Crème Fraîche, Lemon, Dill, Capers). It was fresh, light, and well-balanced, simple but done right. The dill and lemon gave it a nice lift without overpowering the fish.

I was originally eyeing up the Burrata until I clocked the Grilled Prawns hiding in the add-on section. If I see prawns on the menu, it’s an instant yes from me. So, I asked whether it was possible to just order those as a starter and was told yes. They came perfectly grilled, juicy, and with just the right hit of char. No regrets, they absolutely hit the spot. We chose to share the Wholemeal Sourdough Baguette, which was a nice pairing for both starters.

For his main, Louis went full fish vibes and ordered the Grilled Salmon (Pink Fir Potatoes, Sautéed Kale, Smoked Butter). I was torn between the Onglet Steak and the Croque Madame (Toasted Brioche, Shaved Ham, Emmental and Comte Cheese, Bechamel, Fried Egg). Lewis advised that the Croque Madame was the more filling of the two so I chose that and added Fries.

We both enjoyed our mains, but my god, they weren’t wrong about the Croque Madame being filling. Don’t go for bread with your starter if you’re about to have a sandwich for your main. It was absolute cheese toastie heaven, but it was a lot! The Fries came with Red Onion and Rosemary Salt, but I asked for the onion to be removed. They were really good but I had to rope Louis in to help me finish them.

When it came to dessert, I had to go minimal because I was so full. Just a simple scoop of strawberry ice cream to round things up. Louis was braver and went for the Eton Mess (Raspberry Confit, French Meringue Shards, Lime Chantilly). It looked great, light, summery, and very much in season. The dessert menu is changing soon, and the Eton Mess will be Strawberry instead of Raspberry.

We had a lovely evening, and I would highly recommend trying out Sloane Place Restaurant. Good food, great service, and a setting that feels special without being try-hard. I’ve been before and I would go back again. It works for both a casual dinner and if you wanted to do something a little dressier. Just maybe don’t go too hard on the bread options if you’re not wearing stretchy trousers.
