There’s something instantly special about walking into Mowgli. The glow of fairy lights, the soft hum of conversation, and that unmistakable warmth that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into someone’s home rather than a restaurant. This was my first proper Mowgli experience, and honestly, I was so impressed! Not just by the food, but by the people behind it. The team were welcoming, passionate, and full of knowledge about every dish and drink we tried.

I was there for their Christmas Feasting Menu preview, and if you’re looking for a festive meal that’s a little different from the usual turkey and trimmings, this is for you. For £40 per person, you start with a glass of bubbles or a mocktail, followed by a generous spread of Indian street food dishes bursting with colour, texture, and flavour.

FLAVOUR IN EVERY BITE AND SURPRISES AT EVERY TURN

We got to see the famous Yoghurt Chat Bombs made fresh by the chef. These crispy puff breads filled with chickpeas, spiced yoghurt, tamarind, and coriander, topped with pomegranate seeds, are a feast for the senses. I did not try one myself as chickpeas are not my favourite, but everyone else at the table was raving. It’s remarkable how one bite can deliver sweet, sour, creamy, and crunchy all at once.

Then came the Fenugreek Kissed Fries, and they’re not kidding when they describe them as “moreish.” Perfectly crisp potato cubes tossed in Mowgli’s signature masala make them almost impossible to stop eating. The Gunpowder Chicken was another clear standout. Tender, flavour-packed, and with just the right kick, it’s one of those dishes that makes you pause mid-conversation to appreciate what you’re eating.

The Tiffin Boxes are such a fun idea. A two-tier curry roulette where you don’t know exactly what you’ll get until it arrives. I tried both the Mother Butter Chicken and Mowgli Paneer, and both were delicious. The butter chicken was rich, indulgent, and comforting, while the paneer was smooth, full of spice, and perfectly balanced. Both had more of a kick than I expected, but that just made them all the more exciting. Even though each dish is served individually, the menu is very shareable, so you can swap bites and explore the different flavours with your fellow diners.

COCKTAILS, PROSECCO AND A FEAST FOR THE SENSES

On the drinks side, I tried the Chai Rum Sling. This soul-warming chai infusion with white rum, apricot syrup, apple, mint, lime, and sugar was a revelation. I do not usually pick rum cocktails first, but this one was smooth and perfectly balanced between sweet and refreshing. Naturally, I had a few glasses of the Famiglia Botter D.O.C Extra Dry Prosecco. The delicate bubbles and floral apple notes were exactly what I wanted to accompany a festive feast.

Mowgli’s private dining rooms are stunning, warm, and intimate. Sparkling fairy lights add extra magic over the winter months, and some rooms even have the iconic swing seats, which make for a fun Instagram moment (though probably best attempted before your third cocktail). They offer private, semi-private, and full venue bookings, perfect for Christmas parties, group dinners, or a festive feast with friends.

Between the food, the setting, and the people, Mowgli achieves that perfect balance of comfort, celebration, and indulgence. The Christmas Feasting Menu is full of flavour, fun, and thoughtful touches that will leave you smiling and, probably, delightfully full. I left already thinking about my next visit, which is always the best sign of a truly memorable experience.
