WHERE DREAMS COME ALIVE ON ICE

There’s something a little bit magical about Disney and how it can instantly bring out my inner child. And the magic doesn’t come to life any more than during a Disney on Ice performance. We’re talking enchanting storytelling, breath-taking ice skating, and a selection of our favourite Disney characters. Recently showing at the OVO Arena Wembley I took my friend Jessie and her son to see their latest production, Disney On Ice: Dream Big.

Attending the show as an adult you can appreciate the skilful ice-skating performances whilst reliving old memories. But watching the show through a child’s eyes added a new level to the experience. Jessie’s son was entranced by the magic unfolding on the ice and his enthusiasm and wonder was infectious. At time he would lean over and say, “That was good Mum”, and during the interval he was disappointed they had to take a break.

I’m sure that most people my age have a favourite Disney character, I’d love to know yours. Mine is Ariel from The Little Mermaid so I had my fingers crossed that she would be featured in the show. And not only did she feature but there was an extended performance of my cherished childhood film. From the moment Ariel and her underwater friends graced the ice, I found myself swept away by the nostalgia. I sang along to every iconic song and relished every magical moment.

DREAM BIG: BELIEVING IS JUST THE BEGINNING

And the surprises didn’t end there! During the Sleeping Beauty montage, I couldn’t help but joke “Imagine if they just brought on a dragon”. And to my utter astonishment, my playful remark turned into reality. A magnificent dragon emerged on the ice, complete with fiery theatrics that added an extra layer of excitement to the performance. It was a truly unforgettable moment that left me in awe of the show’s creativity and ability to exceed expectations.

Despite having attended a Disney on Ice show before, Dream Big was a fresh take on the experience. It’s a testament to the timeless appeal of Disney magic, which continues to captivate audiences of all ages. Disney on Ice Dream Big reminds us that believe is just the beginning of a magical journey. The only downside would be the price of merchandise at the venue. But if you invest in a long-term souvenir like the snow cone Olaf Cup you end up with both a treat for the show and a keepsake afterwards.
