This October, fans of internationally renowned poet Olivia Gatwood will get the unique opportunity to experience her gut-wrenching and life-affirming poetry first-hand as she performs her work, and hear her in conversation, uncovering the stories and context behind her new book, Life of the Party.

In the book ‘a multi-faceted collection of odes, anecdotes, sonnets and prose, Olivia Gatwood weaves together the trials and triumphs of growing up and explores the many ways that fear and violence can be internalized in a woman’s psyche.

At times blistering and riotous, at times soulful and exuberant, Life of the Party is about what it means to be a girl and a woman in today’s world and the challenge of briefly being both.

On Olivia’s three date tour, she will explore these themes through riveting conversations and live performance. In powerful, piercingly candid language, Gatwood will ask: How does one grow from a girl to a woman in a world wracked by violence? What happens to our bodies that make us who we are? Is this fear really irrational?

Olivia Gatwood has received national recognition for her poetry and was a finalist at Brave New Voices, Women of the World and the National Poetry Slam. Her performances have featured on HBO, The Huffington Post, MTV, and the BBC among others. She is a fulltime touring artist and this is her first full collection.
