Are you looking for an experience that is equal parts thrilling and thought-provoking? Then look no further than Jury Duty | Live In London currently running at Theatre Deli Leadenhall until 27 July. This immersive gaming theatre experience is like being thrust into the heart of a real-life legal drama. But this time you and your fellow jurors have the power to decide a man’s fate.

From the moment you walk into the central London office location, the immersive journey begins. Greeted by a live actor, the stage is set for what’s to come, but make no mistake – you’re in charge of your own deliberations. It’s up to you and your fellow players to sift through the physical evidence, sworn statements, and the computer database relating to the fictitious crime at hand.

My own experience was nothing short of thrilling! Arriving with a friend, we found ourselves in a group of 12 – ironically the exact number you need for active jury service. The setup was impressive: a boardroom adorned with blueprints, and a large whiteboard for jotting down notes. There were files galore: from psychiatric evaluations of the accused to autopsy reports and witness statements. Evidence bags were piled up on shelves, and multiple laptops were at our disposal for database checks.

IT’S EASY TO SEE HOW THE PROCEEDINGS COULD LEAD TO MULTIPLE OUTCOMES – ADDING ANOTHER LAYER OF UNPREDICTABILITY AND INTEREST

An added layer came from being about to speak directly with the accused Harry Briggs. We had multiple opportunities to question him, and we had this fantastic girl in our group who led the questioning. She could have done it for a living, she was that good! The questioning allowed us to peel back more layers of the case and explore more details.

It was interesting to see how everyone’s perspectives differed. From analysing evidence to casting our final votes against each charge. Not everyone agreed on the final decision, which showed the richness of the experience. I won’t spoil the outcome, but let’s just say my final decision proved to be spot on. However, I could easily see how the proceedings could lead to multiple outcomes. Really adds another layer of unpredictability and interest.

I must give credit to the actors who brought the experience to life! From the facilitator guiding us through the Jury Duty journey and keeping 12 excitable jurors in check. To the compelling portrayal of Harry Briggs, their commitment to their roles was impressive. At £42.50 this is an experience that you will get your monies worth from. And if you book a full group of 12 the price drops to £36.13 each, so get the gang involved.

Jury Duty | Live In London offers an immersive, engaging and gripping experience that I wholeheartedly recommend. For anyone seeking something out of the ordinary and a bit unique then this is for you! Performances run on Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as Saturday matinees and evenings too.
