Journey at Chelsea Funhouse Review
Journey At Chelsea Funhouse
A review by Hannah Dolan | Hannah is a lifestyle and travel blogger from London
Journey across the world (to Chelsea) and experience culinary delights from all over the world. Grab a glass of champagne from the vomiting unicorn and pose next to the oh so grammable neon sign. What in the world am I talking about? Journey at Chelsea Funhouse of course.
The latest in immersive excellence from Lollipop (who also run ABQ and The Bletchley). Journey is aimed at bringing together an amalgamation of culture through food and drink.
What is Journey all about?
A “ journey” is an experience made up of four dishes and four pairing cocktails. Allowing you to scoot across the world for a delightful dining experience filled with mouthwatering twists and turns.
What’s on the menu?
There are four possible “journeys” you can take so your first dilemma will be which one to choose! Each journey also comes with a fully vegan option. My number one top tip would be to keep a menu handy as if you’re anything like me you’ll forget what you ordered…
The Silk Road Menu
I opted for the Silk Road menu which is a route spanning from the Far East to the Mediterranean.
1. Starting off in China for an avocado sesame bean sprout and radish salad paired with a Kamm & Sonns Jasmine and Champagne.
2. Next, we headed to India for Punjabi spiced mussels paired with a rose & lychee martini. A highlight for this particular journey was the mussels – they were extremely flavoursome and I could have eaten several more of these! I also loved the lychee martini as this was a nice twist on an old classic.
3. Then we moved on to Persia for smoked lemon and cumin lamb rump with a pomegranate, sherry & beer cobbler.
4. Finishing up in the Med with a medley of grilled peach, lemon sorbet and ginger crumb paired with a strawberry limoncello.
TIP: Pick this menu if you want to try the most diverse range of eats
The Castillo Menu
My partner in eats chose The Castillo Menu – sampling dishes from Europe and South America.
1. Starting off in Peru – we sampled bream & salmon ceviche with pisco, fresh pineapple and jalapeno. The combination of flavours and textures plus the perfectly paired cocktail made this starter a real treat.
2. Next up was a stopover in Mexico for tortillas – braised ox cheek and tilapia (which is a fish btw) yes I totally had to google, with a banana and celery margarita.
3. We then popped over to Spain for pan-fried sea bass and sangria. Beyond delicious!
4. Lastly, we headed to the Philippines for ginger and coconut rice pudding, paired with a white chocolate daiquiri – we weren’t a huge fan of this dessert, the rice pudding consistency was a bit much, but you can’t love everything!
TIP: Savour the pisco, pineapple and jalapeno concoction that comes with the bream and salmon, it’s a total dream!
Thank you, next?
If you’re tired from all of that world travel, you can pop upstairs to meet Chelsea Black, London’s boujiest Espresso Martini bar. Complete with sun terrace and hanging chair for sunbathers and posers alike.
