A FEMININE SPIN ON A CLASSIC FARCE

Ingeniously they flipped the script with female MPs at the helm of a scandalously comedic and chaotic narrative. Directed by a talented ensemble, this play captivates with an evening of uproarious comedy and engaging theatrical mayhem.

Shifting the perspective to female politicians misbehaving, the play follows Rebecca Willey MP, a government Junior Minister. Rebecca is orchestrating a secretive rendezvous with John Worthington, a special adviser to the opposition, in a hotel. Her planned clandestine affair soon spirals into a series of calamitous events, setting the stage for a hilarious rollercoaster ride.

The narrative springs into action as things hilariously spiral out of control for the characters. There’s a conniving waiter, a suspicious hotel manager, a vigilant private detective, and a slew of other zany characters. The play barrels through mishaps, including an unconscious nurse and, of course, a dead body, putting Mrs. Willey’s career on the line.

Audiences were treated to an outstanding display of comical mastery in both script and acting. The play, which marks its premiere at The Mill At Sonning, is one of the best shows I’ve witnessed at the venue in recent times. This is all thanks to its unbridled humour, skilful delivery, and the novelty of its all-female political farce.

It’s Her Turn Now offers evening shows from Wednesday to Saturday, along with weekly matinees. The icing on the cake for patrons is the inclusion of a delectable two-course meal before the show. This contributes to the overall immersive experience and showcases the venue’s dedication to ensuring patrons enjoy a full evening of entertainment and culinary delight.
