Same babe. Same.

Powerful, poignant & perfect. Dick Whittington & his Catford Cat at The Broadway Theatre in Catford is the future of British Panto.

Inclusive, educational and downright silly. It will steal your heart and make you smile as much as you cry.

Opening the show, Lisa Davina Phillips. The great Fairy Bow Bells herself, is magic. A stunning actress with gorgeous vocals to match. She welcomes us into this musical world.

Durone Stokes, Dick Whittington, steals the show from the moment he appears at the bow of The Windrush. This iconic imagery collectively silenced the audience. As we hung on his every silky smooth note. It would have been beautiful to catch another glimpse of this at the end of the show.

As we are swept back to post war Britain and those who answered her call for help. Forever changing the course of their own lives, to rebuild and construct the new London that we adore today. Emotions swell.

We go on to meet Alice and her Dad. Sparks fly instantly between Alice and Dick 👀 come on, this is a family show. Dad hires Dick and the drama ensues. From one ratastrophy to the next!

At the paws of queen rat. Portrayed by the stunning Natasha Lewis. Not since the great Rattigan himself have I been in the presence of such a magnificent plot from the sewers.

And we cannot forget Auntie Sarah, Justin Brett. Bringing us a classic yet Catford style pantomime dame to all fall in love with. Although Dave from Bromley caught her eye straight away.

My personal favourite character has to be Uncle Vincent. Puss. With his colloquial gems, charming accent and big fluffy tail. After all. We do ALL love the Catford Cat.

I cannot wait to see what comes next for this cast, crew & theatre. Growing up down the road I have always adored this venue and have such hope for its future. With more fabulous shows like this we can make it a staple of the Lewisham community.
