Be Amazed By The Luminaze This December In Wembley Park
THE LUMINAZE, A NEW, FREE TO ATTEND, NEON LIGHT MAZE WILL ARIVE IN WEMLEY PARK ON 2 DECEMBER
Winter is coming to Wembley Park in style this year. London’s most exciting new neighbourhood announces a plethora of free seasonal activities, events and offers from Saturday 2 December 2023, including the headline attraction The Luminaze.
The Luminaze – a brand new reflective, light-based, maze-like, walkthrough art installation from Emergency Exit Arts (EEA) that will wow visitors of all ages. Free to enter from 2 December 2023 until 2nd January 2024, The Luminaze will be located off the iconic Olympic Way, atop the stunning floor mural at Samovar Space (by Brighton-based artist Lois O’Hara), with the Wembley Stadium arch as the perfect backdrop.
The Luminaze will use energy-efficient neon lighting to create bespoke scenes including a living room, stars, and trees, along with motivational messages. Four artists have explored the themes of belonging and migration to create the neon murals, with the result that visitors are invited to think about what home means and how our planet is the ultimate home. The idea of ‘one world’ and ‘one people’, and how we are all connected, will shine out beneath the starry sky of Wembley Park.
Visitors who reach the centre of the maze will discover a stunning, four-metre-tall sculpture, The Hourglass, with new show “We Love This Place” created by artists at EEA and light wizards, Illuminos. It features internal projection mapping, programmed to deliver narratives through animations, audio and stories. The interactive display will showcase a new animation, suitable for all ages and created specifically for Wembley Park, which will explore the theme of place and home and invite audiences to think about what they love about their community.
WEMBLEY PARK WILL HOST THE FIRST FESTIVE MARKET OF THE SEASON
Saturday 2 December will also see Wembley Park host the first Festive Market of the season, with stallholders on Market Square and Olympic Way providing a wide range of gifts, seasonal craft, gourmet treats and much more. The festive markets will be open for the first three weekends in December for shoppers looking for last-minute gifts or simply strolling through the stalls to soak up the festive atmosphere.
In addition to the festive markets, Wembley Park will be hosting a series of live music events with choirs and festive singing performances on The Sound Shell, set against the backdrop of the world-famous Wembley Stadium. Performances will take place during the afternoons of 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, and 17 December, from 12 pm to 5 pm with warm beverages available to ward off the winter chill. Roaming, costumed performers will entertain visitors in Market Square and along Olympic Way over the December weekends as well as face painting on offer in Samovar Space.
BOXPARK Wembley is getting into the festive spirit too, with a range of events for visitors to enjoy. The tinsel-tastic programme of events kicks off with Hip Hop Karaoke on 16th November. Some of the other festive music events in the run up to the big day include Big Fat Quizbox on 30 November, Ultimate Buble: Michael Buble Tribute on 14 December and Massaoke: Xmas at BOXPARK on 21 December.
WEMBLEY PARK BOULEVARD
Winter in Wembley Park will also see the trees along Wembley Park Boulevard illuminated in festive colours. From Saturday 2 December, there will also be a stunning, nine-metre-tall Christmas tree on Market Square, adorned with festive neon decorations and traditional baubles. Other light installations adding to the seasonal atmosphere will include a festive photography exhibition in Arena Square and illuminated artwork in the square’s iconic K2 red telephone boxes. Seasonal lighting will also run along the Bobby Moore Bridge underpass and the Shadow Wall by Jason Bruges will return to enable visitors to dance with their digital light shadows throughout December.
Wembley Park has plenty to offer to Christmas shoppers keen to find the perfect gift without breaking the bank this winter. London Designer Outlet provides goods from a range of premium retailers at up to 70% off the recommended retail price, while pampering gift packages will be available for both beauty and hair treatments, courtesy of Urban Rose Beauty and Chop Chop. Many Wembley Park restaurants will also be offering special winter menus for visitors looking to enjoy exceptional seasonal food this December.
Finally, there will be a chance for one lucky winner to enjoy the ultimate day out in Wembley Park, worth more than £500. All people need do to enter is sign up to the mailing list at www.wembleypark.com between 1 December and 20th December.
