With many years of hosting our popular One Fest, dedicated to the championing of new one-person shows, we’ve decided to double the fun and see if two heads are better than one.

Two Fest is a festival of new duologues commissioned by The Space as part of our 2020 ‘Year of New Writing’. With a mixture of established writers and emerging talent discovered through our ScriptSpace development program, we have created 13 brand new pieces of theatre, curated into 3 separate programmes that play with genre, theme and theatrical form.

Artistic Director Adam Hemming has developed Two Fest because “We wanted to create a new festival that would enable us to shine a light on some of the amazing playwrights we’ve been fortunate enough to work with over the last few years. Whilst building on existing relationships with playwrights, we’re also getting to work more closely with directors we’ve had our eyes on for some time and meet some wonderful new actors. In total, we have 52 brilliant theatre-makers working on 13 exciting new short plays.”

Two Fest is a series of stories for anyone that has ever argued politics with family, clashed with a colleague, felt betrayed or missed someone after they’ve gone, made a connection, cared for a sick dog, decided to break out or break free. A festival that takes you for tea at the Ritz, shows you the apocalypse, updates a 70s sitcom and travels from the Welsh Valleys to South-East Asia (via a European migration).

Join the Space in celebrating exciting new talent and a broad range of new stories this February at Two Fest. Playing from the 11th of February until 22/02/2020, culminating in our ‘Trilogy day’ of all three programmes performed back to back.
