ROOF EAST

I’m sure I’m not the only who is even more excited for summer since we had such a glorious sunny bank holiday weekend. There’s so much to do and experience in London and seasonal pop ups add even more variety to the mix. One in particular that I couldn’t wait for the reopening of was Roof East, London’s biggest adult playground.

I took over The Live Review fully in November but my first ever review for the site was Roof East 2018, so I was really excited to be invited to the relaunch after having such a great time. Last year you could take part in a competitive game of bowls, take a swing at the only roof top batting cages and partake in a round of crazy golf and this year it just got bigger and better.

All of these activities returned but SFG Club expanded on their gaming options and added House Of Foos, London’s first supercharged VR foosball experience, and in addition to bowls you could also curl or shuffle on the gaming lanes. In May the Sky High Cinema will also return with an exciting programme of new releases, cult classics and other cinematic spectacles.

You don’t have to buy a ticket to enjoy the views from the rooftop so you can just pop in at any time, grab a drink and just soak in the sunshine and watch the world go by. The games all start at £8 and are available to book on the website. All the games are a lot of fun but I would recommend the Batting Cages the most, both myself and Charli made a beeline for that pretty much as soon as we arrived.

This summer Roof East has introduced Roof Eats, three carefully curated food stalls serving street food from across the world. Eat Chay, famous for their vegan food with traditional Vietnamese and Korean flavour inspirations, The Burger Project run by the King Of Pops Jimmy Garcia, and Kolkati, a North Indian inspired vendor who were serving their signature ‘Kati Rolls’, a flaky egg-fried paratha wrap filled with masala chicken or paneer.

I didn’t get a chance to try the food but Charli had one of the Kati Rolls and said it was delicious and I saw a lot of smiling and happy faces on the diners so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. After dining you may not be feeling too active and want to chill out but there are five free games that won’t take it out of you, Jenga, Cornhole, Table Tennis, Foosball and Table Top Curling. We grabbed some cocktails at the bar and had a cheeky game of Jenga before going for a game of Mini Golf, which I won thanks to CharliCharli scoring about 20 on one of the holes.

There are three bars at Roof East and they have some new and unusual cocktails including a rum and raspberry ‘Knickerbocker Royale’ and the ‘Electric Boogaloo’ which has blue tequila which I was too much of a wuss to try. Roof East is a really unique event and a lot of fun whether you are with a large group or just a duo. There’s so much to keep you entertained, the food options means there should be something for everyone and the amount of bars means you don’t have to wait too long to get served. Definitely get a trip booked in your diary!
