Quaglino’s Bar partners with bars across 12 time zones to celebrate World Whisky Day on Saturday 18th May

On Saturday 18th May 2019, the bar community will be celebrating World Whisky Day all around the globe. To mark this occasion, London’s iconic Quaglino’s, bar is making the age-old idiom ‘It’s 5 o’clock somewhere’ a global reality by collaborating with 12 bars across the world, each in 12 different time zones, to create an all-day cocktail hour.

Quaglino’s Bar manager Marco Sangion and Head Mixologist Federico Pasian are inviting 12 bars to join the party – from local favourites and secret haunts to some of the world’s revered bars – to serve the world’s favourite cocktail, the whisky-based Old Fashioned, as part of the project. Locations such as Moscow, Seychelles, Mumbai, Bangkok and Tokyo will all be serving the cocktail from 5 to 6pm, in their respective time zone, meaning that it’s ‘5 o’clock somewhere’ for 12 consecutive hours.

Partaking bars include The Clumsies [Athens], Aer Rooftop Terrace, Four Seasons [Mumbai], Il Locale [Florence], The Baxter Inn [Sydney] and of course, Quaglino’s Bar [London] to name but a few.

Partaking bars will be showcasing their take on the Old Fashioned on social media, meaning that their local and global fans can join in this interesting take on a cocktail relay. Tagging participating bars, each bar will serve the Old Fashioned as it travels with the turning of the sun, from East to West on World Whisky Day.

This campaign is the perfect finale of Quaglino’s World Cocktail Tour, which will take in top bars in Florence, Singapore and Hong Kong throughout May, as well as cementing Quaglino’s ongoing commitment to being a global force in the bar world.
