Award-winning stand-up comedian Kai Samra brings his 5-star, critically acclaimed, debut Edinburgh Festival Fringe show Underclass to Soho Theatre this autumn for one week only, from Monday 21 to Saturday 26 October.
Described as ‘a charismatic man with a great story’ (Steve Bennett, Chortle), Kai talks about his journey from being homeless and sleeping rough as a teenager to navigating his way through the comedy industry today.
The son of Indian immigrants, he also dissects life as young, working class, British Asian in 21st Century Britain – from knife crime, police profiling … to a complete lack of options at fancy dress parties. He reflects on the huge rise of right-wing politics in his Midlands hometown and the reasons behind it – until a Vice interview he does with the far right, former EDL Leader, Tommy Robinson changes his view on anger, disenfranchisement and himself.

Kai has worked closely with Soho Theatre and is an alumni of the Soho Young Company. He also appeared on the comedy stage at the Mayor of London’s Diwali Festival in Trafalgar Square presented by Soho Theatre in 2017 and 2018. Underclass debuted this year at Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of Soho Theatre’s 2019 Edinburgh programme.
