In light of the Covid-19 outbreak, and following discussions with professional advisors, SSD Concerts has taken the advice to reschedule This is Tomorrow Festival – originally planned for 22-24th May 2020 – in Newcastle due to COVID-19 concerns.

Now in its third year, This is Tomorrow Festival is set to welcome over 30,000 music fans through its doors over the course of the weekend.

The safety and well-being of its audience, staff and artists is paramount. As the event is early on in the festival calendar, the promoter has said that giving ticket buyers as much warning as possible is the right thing to do given the current uncertainty.

This Is Tomorrow will now take place on August 14-16 2020 with the line-up still intact, including headliners Sam Fender, Gerry Cinnamon and Royal Blood. All tickets remain valid for the rescheduled dates.

SSD concerts, which runs several music festivals across the North of England and many of Newcastle’s live music venues, has acted quickly to make sure customers have enough notice to reschedule plans.

Event organiser Steve Davis of SSD concerts, said: “Taking the current circumstances into account, we’re delighted to keep the line-up intact by working quickly.

“Although the date change is extremely frustrating, it’s unfair to wait any longer to make a decision. We are taking into account our customers’ feedback. They of course want to know more since the Coronavirus outbreak and they’ve contacted us in significant numbers. All in hope the festival would go ahead.

“By acting as quickly as possible and responsibly, we have ensured all artists are available on a date later in the summer when we hope the current situation has passed so we can move on and deliver the event we initially intended to.

“The wellbeing of our spectators, artists and staff is of the utmost importance and we’ve taken this difficult decision with that in mind.”

“We urge the public to support music events that do go ahead where possible as we navigate through this difficult period. We’d like to thank all the artists booked and their representatives for the support and flexibility they have shown regarding the re-scheduling of this event.”

Cllr Ged Bell, Newcastle City Council cabinet member for Employment and Culture, continues: “The coronavirus outbreak is having a profound impact on every corner of our city, our residents and our businesses. It is vital that we all continue to follow Public Health guidance, including social distancing as this is the only way we will reduce the spread of the virus.

“This is Tomorrow took the responsible decision to postpone their event and I now look forward to this vibrant music festival moving to the summer and entertaining the crowds this August.

“Our city will be ready to hit the ground running once the outbreak is over, we will provide world-class events that will provide a boost to our economy and help kick-start our recovery.”
