LIANNE LA HAVAS RETURNS TO THE STAGE IN HER DEBUT BBC SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PERFORMANCE

BBC Symphony Orchestra gets set to welcome Lianne La Havas to the Barbican Centre on the 28th February in a one-off event with Jules Buckley

With her unique blend of soul, folk and jazz, Lianne La Havas will be pushing musical boundaries in this live orchestral experience at the Barbican. Here, the BBC Symphony Orchestra will be transforming Lianne’s acclaimed debut album Is Your Love Big Enough? and latest album Blood into an orchestral masterpiece, arranged and conducted by Jules Buckley.

Buckley has been central in expanding the creative repertoire of orchestras by working within an array of musical genres such as pop, soul, dance and grime. Buckley’s bold interpretations have paved the way for his first major concert in his new role as Creative Artist-in-Association, which will demonstrate the BBC SO’s incredible versatility. This concert is the first in Buckley’s initial three year tenure which will see him lead a range of innovative projects.

Lianne’s rich vocals dance across silky guitar riffs and hypnotic grooves in her original music. She pays homage to musical greats including Aretha Franklin, and is known for her refreshing rendition of Say A Little Prayer. The Grammy-nominated songstress has graced many stages, including a support slot for soul-legend, Stevie Wonder, at British Summertime.  The upcoming performance at the Barbican is long-awaited; her last London headline show was in June 2019. Listeners now have the opportunity to hear Lianne like never before, in her debut appearance with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

“I have never worked with a live orchestra before, so I’m excited to hear my music re-imagined with the incredible BBC Symphony Orchestra. This is a brand new experience for me, however, I’m sure it’s going to be quite an awesome wild ride, that I can’t wait to embark upon.”
