GINGERLINE TV DINNERS

Broadcast live from a “W1 London Studio”, Gingerline TV Dinners is a new immersive experience that pits audience members against each other in a TV game show where points win the tastiest of prizes.

The experience takes place in the recently opened IMMERSIVE l LDN, a three floor, immersive theatre space in the heart of Mayfair. A four-course dining experience within the premise of a gameshow format complete with cameras, challenges and TV hosts.

The audience is broken into five competing teams of twelve, each with a different colour representing them, and we were in the orange team; The Zesty Zingers. You were encouraged to wear your team colours for the event, but this was not compulsory, although it did make it easier to find the fellow members of your team.

There were four rounds on Gingerline TV Dinners, all food-based challenges, and you had to decide amongst the team which three people would take part in each round. Round one was called Sniff, Lick, Touch where each person was assigned a sense to guess which food was in front of them whilst they were blindfolded.

Following each challenge one of the food courses were served, and each was related to the challenge it followed. Due to this I can’t tell you what we ate except for the dessert course as I might give away a clue for you to win your round and we can’t have you cheating now can we.

The challenge that I took part in was the Shopping Challenge which was broken into two parts. Firstly, we were given a dish and we had to list 10 ingredients from said dish which the entire team could help with. Following this, in a relay between three of us, we had to find and grab the ingredients from the shopping set up on the stage.

The final challenge was a food quiz and decided which dessert your team would win dependant on the order in which correct answered were given. Our team were second and we chose Apple Crumble from the five options available which our team were very happy with. I will say that whilst it was an interesting twist in the game it did mean that some teams could end up disappointed with their choice of dessert.

The whole set up of the tv gameshow was extremely entertaining and a unique and fun concept. The only problem I had with the evening was that the food seemed to be more of an afterthought and some of the dishes were quite random choices but they did cater well to dietary requirements so I can’t complain there.

This would be a great experience to book for a large group like a work day out or for a celebration, although a small group still works as you get to meet new people and the atmosphere is really upbeat and fun. If you are a bit competitive, enjoy your food and are looking for a different way to spend your evening I’d definitely say to give Gingerline TV Dinners a try.
