ELIXIR – Welcome to the world of Head First Acrobats
A wonderful fusion of Humour and pure skill of Acrobatics! Made up of the company that are Cal Harris, Thomas Gorham and Rowan Thomas, these Australian Acrobats have created a fantastic show now showing at Underbelly Festival on Londons Southbank.
Performing in the Speigeltent at the later time of 9.30pm this trio certainly make it worthwhile staying out late. Exilir is a show that fuses Comedy, Acrobatics and a little Adult Humour all in one to have the audience laughing out loud!
We are first introduced to a zombie being shot dead. Lights go out and so then rewinding the story to its beginning. An introduction to the Exilir Laboratory where our three scientists then use themselves as human guniea pigs to see the effects of ingesting various forms of blue liquids to see the effects on the body.
Through this experiment we are privy to see increased strength and agility all displayed in various forms. Cal Harris the very muscular and toned gentleman impresses on the Ladder, whilst Rowan Thomas who seems not do be able to do much right according to his colleagues dazzles on the Cyr Wheel and of course our third man of the bunch Thomas Gorham is splendid in leading the trio through the experiments showing pure strength in many poses and guises, and also a spot of breakdancing.
The shows concept has been brilliantly thought out and the humour hilarious. I wouldn’t bring my kids to watch it personally due to the naughty nature of some jokes however if you do dependent on their age their naivety might spare them. There are also some fab surprises in the costume department of which is unexpected. Get read
I don’t want to say too much about the show other than it is truly the #BestShowEver. Well that’s what they make us say but it is honestly pure class. I have a total appreciation and am left in awe about the balance, control and skill needed to perform to such a high level.
A key factor also is audience participation and while they wont get you up on stage (so don’t worry) they may come to you. This is a great show and id recommend you getting down to see it before it finishes 23rd June 2018, and if you do have children then they are actually performing a pirate themed show on Sundays called Arr’ we there yet? which im sure will be just as funny and amazing.
