Celebrate summer in Jazz Age style

The Candlelight Club Summer Ball

Embrace the vacation vibe with some 1920s hedonism. In a hundred-year-old hall filled with candles, a host of Bright Young Things will frolic in two rooms of flapper fun.

In the Ballroom impish impresario Champagne Charlie will introduce live music from his swing band the Bubbly Boys, accompanied by Charleston dance troupe the Gatsby Girls. When the band aren’t playing DJs Holly and Aila of the Bee’s Knees will be spinning vintage platters for your shimmying pleasure.

Meanwhile the Cabaret Lounge will offer another bar and, in the early evening, live music from uke-toting Sara Spade and her Noisy Boys—championed by Jools Holland himself, who says, “She has a fantastic voice and her band makes me want to dance. They have that magical element which is almost impossible to put your finger on.” (Interestingly their drummer also plays for Massive Attack.)
There will then be two cabaret shows, hosted by Amber Topaz, featuring dance and burlesque from Demi Noire, the reincarnation of 1920s star Josephine Baker, and hooping and acrobatics from Abigail Collins.
And if stepping into the past is not enough for you, our fortune tellers Foxglove and Lucius will also be on hand to peer into your future.
Just time to squeeze in one final knees-up before we all go jetting off to the Caribbean or rolling around in mud at festivals. With live music from the Jazzberries.

Summer may be over but the Prohibition fun is just beginning, this time with special guests Brandyn Shaw and his Rhythm Makers, evoking the elegance of the golden age of British dance bands.
