In life love doesn’t always run to the form guide…
4/1 Matt, the gambler with a dysfunctional brain, heart and penis. Might need more experience
7/2 Sam, suffering from a broken marriage and loss but might have enough to take the spoils, safe hands
9/5 F. Paige, the bookies favourite who is as shallow as she is devious, an obvious choice
20/1 Helen, the outsider, a few skeletons in the closet but has experience if her past doesn’t haunt her
WORTH A FLUTTER is a hard-hitting comedy that explores maleness in working class upbringings, love, loss and one badly behaved penis. We follow Matt and Sam as they compete for Helen’s affections, but will Helen want to gamble on either? See the dark and tragic past of four broken characters to discover what has led them to this point and how they will try to move forward, often with a smile on their face, and a good craic in their locker, for there is always another day.
Based on the writer Michael Head’s experiences as a younger man ‘growing up’ in South London, this gritty comedy explores flawed characters as they deal with issues such as domestic violence, the breakdown of a marriage following the death of a child and growing up in a single parent family to a mother with mental illness.
Off the back of writer Michael Head’s past two successful shows comes the writers hardest hitting and most comic show to date.
