MICHAEL BUBLE – O2 Arena Review

MICHAEL BUBLE

O2 ARENA London Performance –  29th September 2018

Saturday night saw Michael Buble perform at the O2 Arena London for his only arena tour date this year in the UK.

The Canadian yet again performed at the O2 Arena for what must feel like home to him now. This multi award winning musician is back in the limelight after his break away for personal reasons and what a comeback he has had.

After his British Summer Time Festival appearance he was back, no doubt something to do with his soon to be new album. However album or not it is always great to hear this man sing. Dressed in his black suit, charismatic smile and wonderful charm here we were.

I am a fan of Buble but never have i seen him perform live so as a guest of O2 Music, i was privileged enough to be observing from an upper tier suite.

Michael was joined by special guests and on this occasion they were Catherine McGrath and Fleur East. A contrast in artists i felt.

Catherine McGrath an Irish country singer/songwriter who is on the up. Inspired by contemporary pop, Nashville and the country artists that have had success in the mainstream such as Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgrave, she gave us a wonderful set to those that arrived early enough to witness her. I shall definitely be keeping an eye out for her.

On the other hand Fleur East, a runner up on the show X Factor. A talented singer no doubt but probably past her best chance of continued commercial success. Her biggest hit being ‘Sax’ that hit No.1 back in November 2015. The O2 Arena gave a fabulous platform for both to introduce and remind us of their talents.

Then the time came and moments after the clock struck nine, Michael Buble the man himself took to the stage. Dressed in a slick black suit, i often think this man should of been in ‘The Ratpack’ such is his look and style topped off with his crooner voice.

Starting big he hits us with ‘Feeling Good’ and we were indeed. Instantly setting the mood in the arena, a full venue watched intently as he belted this classic out we indeed were feeling good.

This show was a mixture of new songs and his famous for classics in his back catalogue. Its hard not to be pleased by Buble with his sweet tone of voice. Piling through his song ‘Where or When’ was given an emotional feel as he explained his belief in reincarnation and that he felt he had already met his children before they were born. Other highlights included ‘Me and Mrs Jones’, ‘Crazy Love’, ‘Home’, ‘Nobody but me’ and ‘Sway’

Buble smiled throughout and gave one audience member a dream come true moment when he handed the microphone over to him, to sing the Ed Sheeran song ‘Lego Toy’ and in typical fashion with these moments tends to turn out to be a very good singer. Not too bad making your debut in a 20,000 strong arena!

Michael ended the show with the song ‘Always on my Mind’ an emotional one for myself personally but no doubt connected with Bubles recent troubles away from the limelight with his son. Emotional it was and a great way to end the set. Sadly he didn’t perform any encores. So once he left us that was it. We had experienced a fabulous night of music presented by O2 Music Live.
