LAUREN RAY -Shepherd Bush Empire

LAUREN RAY – Shepherds Bush Empire

There are ‘Two days’ that matter the most – The day we heard about Lauren Ray and the day we saw this fabulous singer live.

Fresh from supporting Lucy Spraggan on her sold out UK tour, where we missed our first opportunity to see Lauren, we were invited down to the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire where she is now performing on tour supporting previous X factor contestant Rebecca Ferguson.

Lauren walked on stage and took her place at her keyboard, took her place on stage. The audience i would say three quarters full already. The beauty being that this small venue lends itself to the intimacy you can experience with artists such as Lauren when there are no flashing lights, or production. Just the artist to focus on.

We were given about half an hour and five songs of pure listening pleasure. Lauren introduced each song with a little backstory or information about the songs she was singing.

Starting with the song ‘Drive’ we got to experience Lauren’s faultless voice, easy listening is what Lauren is,close your eyes and you will be transported, putting us at ease, relaxed. Applying our own memories and relating to her songs from our own lives. Her vocals transcending through the venue, the sweet tone and melody she produces is sublime.

Inspired by a podcast about losing someone Lauren sang ‘Dull Ache’ a song played only so far on this tour.

A highlight and probably my favourite song ‘Two Days’ The New Single on release now was wonderful to hear, the contrast in notes i felt like i’m taken on a journey. There are two days that matter the most – do you know when yours are?

A cover of David Grays ‘Babylon; was also fantastic bringing a female vocal with sweet tones and melodies to the song give it a new life ensuring her vocals were crisp, clear and emotive.

Lauren is a certain talent and will no doubt be playing to bigger audiences soon. The audience captivated by her, were not shy in applauding. Lauren gives an assured performance. Her songwriting is there for us to feel through her songs relating to our own experiences.
