THE CLASSIC ROCK SHOW – GUITAR GREATS

If you love classic rock with the sound of the guitar rifts vibrating through your veins then this is the show for you. Hit after Hit of legendary songs from a range of artists played out by this wonderful company of artists and musicians.

As testimony to the ever increasing popularity of Classic Rock music, the critically acclaimed live show ‘The Classic Rock Show’, returned to the UK in January 2018 to bring us, ‘Guitar Greats – World Tour 2018’, an amazing new live production, celebrating the world’s greatest guitarists. Paying tribute to many of the world’s all time guitar greats, The Classic Rock Show’s world class musicians power through Classic Rock’s finest moments, celebrating legendary performances by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Walter Becker (Steely Dan) , Eric Clapton, Angus Young (AC/DC), Brian May (Queen), Joe Walsh (The Eagles), Paul Kossoff (Free), Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) and Pete Townsend (The Who) plus many more.

Looking around the foyer at Cadogan Hall it shows that Rock Music has an audience of many. I saw east end people, west end people, common and posh, young and old(er).

As mentioned above this isn’t going to be a showing of modern day rock, but the classics – when music was music! For those new to the classic rock show or maybe suffer poor memory they had a projector in the background which through a majority of the songs showed the art work of the song that was playing to help..if we never knew already!

Split into two intervals this show was a performance of two rifts (or halves), having heard of this show and its reputation over the last few years i had great expectations going into the show. The first was a little underwhelming in terms of stage performance – i was expecting the singers to rock out and be a bit more commanding on the stage. Instead they stood and sang not moving around too much. However i may add the vocals and guitar playing were outstanding. The second half of this show then took me to the other extreme and delivered everything i expected and more. The singers took more control and used the stage, motivated the audience and rocked! By the end the audience around me and myself were stood up clapping, swaying and indulging!

The standout moments in the show were Howie G’s instrumental of the legendary Jimi Hendrix that brought the house down and a standing ovation. Howie was standout for me in the show with his skills on guitar throughout the show. Van Halens ‘Jump’ had our lead singer jumping through the air, Johnny West gave us a 9 minute vocal of ‘Bat out of Hell’ and ACDC’s ‘Highway to Hell’

Everyone plays their part in the classic rock show from lead singers, to guitarists and drums, this tour will be a sure fire hit for anyone who likes their rock, and for those apprehensive you will be immersed into the world of classic rock and leave a fan!
